Quality

Assured

Every batch tested, so you can serve without worry.

Will it leak? Will it bend? Is it safe for food? These are fair questions to ask about any plate, bowl or food container.

At Chuk, we ask them too.

Samples from every batch are tested with oil and water heated to 100°C for 30 minutes each, checking how they hold up under heat, weight and everyday use. We also weigh them, bend-test them, and check every piece by hand before it is packed.

And we don’t stop there. We put the batch test results online, so you can see them for yourself.

What we check?

Will Chuk plates and bowls leak?

Hot oil. Hot water. We don’t go easy on them.

We fill samples from every batch with oil heated to 100°C and leave them for 30 minutes. Then we do the same with water at 100°C.

That’s roughly the kind of time a delivery can take to reach your customer — so we want to know that your food can make the journey too.

And we are tough judges — on your behalf.

We check that nothing soaks in, leaks out or passes through. And there’s no chance curry sauce is going to make pieces of the plate come off and end up with the food.

Because a plate should hold your food. Not become part of it.

Will they bend or go soft?

Every Chuk product has a fixed weight.

WHY?

A lighter plate is a thinner plate — and thin plates bend.

And no one wants a lap full of greasy food.

So we weigh samples from the production line every hour, all day, not just once per batch. Samples also go through a bending test to make sure they stay firm when they’re full and being carried.

Because “hope this holds” shouldn’t be part of serving dinner.

Is every piece checked by hand?

Yes. Every single one.

Before packing, our finishers inspect every piece by hand. Anything that doesn’t meet our standards is taken out.

We look for:

  • Cracks
  • Missing fibre (thin or bare patches)
  • Foam marks
  • Pressing marks
  • Rough or uneven edges
  • Insect marks
  • Mould marks
  • Spots

What is batch testing?

Think of a batch as one production run of a product. Batch testing means we take samples from every batch and test them before that batch is sent out. Every batch gets its own number, printed on the box. At Chuk, the test results for each batch are saved with photos and linked to that number.

So you don’t just have to take our word for it. You can look up the results yourself.

Check your batch

  1. Find the batch number/ if shift name written on your Chuk box. (Please note if the shift name is written, only put shift name on the finder)
  2. Go to the page below.
  3. See the oil, water, weight and bending results, with photos from the day it was tested.

FAQs

Chuk fills samples from every batch with oil and water at 100°C for 30 minutes each, weighs them every hour and bend-tests them. Finishers also check every piece by hand for faults like cracks, spots and rough edges before packing. The results, with photos, are saved against the batch number and can be seen on this page.

Cracks, missing fibre, foam marks, pressing marks, rough or uneven edges, insect marks, mould marks and spots. Finishers check every piece by hand, and a piece with any of these is taken out.

Yes. Bagasse is sugarcane fibre. Chuk uses it unbleached, with no chlorine and no toxins, and Chuk products are food-safe and FDA-compliant.

Most Chuk products are microwave-safe for up to 3 minutes. Check the product page for the item you are using.
